The transport information listed below does not contain a complete listing of all service providers as only the larger companies are used here for reference. Whilst every endeavour has been made to provide the information as accurately as possible, you are advised to visit the websites of the respective companies or contact them directly to confirm the information prior to your travel. Though only a few locations are mentioned here, there are direct bus services to Kuantan from most major towns in every state. Please check at your local bus terminal or visit the websites of the companies listed below. Malaysia Vipassana Meditation Society (MVMS) do not have any connection with the service providers and will not be responsible for services provided by them. MVMS also do not have any preference towards any provider.

You may first check the Ride Share Board’s ‘Rides Offered’ section to see if there is someone with whom you can share a ride to Dhamma Malaya.

Going to Dhamma Malaya

1. Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan

The bus services at Jalan Pekeliling* and Puduraya are as follows:

Disembarkation point is at University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) which is about 2.3 km after the Gambang Toll exit. Please inform the coach driver to stop at UMP bus stop as indicated in the map. It is about 2.5KM walk to Dhamma Malaya or please click here for taxi information.

Walking to the centre
You may choose to walk to the Center as the route is well shaded by oil palms. You may also try to hitch a lift from in-coming students on registration day if you wait at the security post at the entrance to Gambang Plantations.

2. Johor Bahru to Kuantan (via Segamat)
Please find a bus company that go pass Segamat from Larkin Bus Terminal. These buses pass by the Caltext petrol station specified in the map. It is about 2.5KM walk to Dhamma Malaya (see above) or please click here for taxi information. To drop off near Gambang, please speak to the driver when you board the bus.

3. Johor Bahru to Kuantan (Coastal Route)
The bus will stop at Terminal Makmur Jalan Stadium in Kuantan. From here take a taxi to Gambang Plantations.

4. Singapore to Kuantan (Coastal Route)
Get down at Terminal Makmur Jalan Stadium in Kuantan and take a taxi to Gambang Plantations.

Leaving Dhamma Malaya

Base on past observations, students who drove to Dhamma Malaya are more than happy to share ride with other students who are returning to the same destination. You can inform the Dhamma Servers at the service desk on the 10th day after NOBLE SILENCE is ended to find out who is able to share ride with you.

Bus Ticketing Agent
There is a bus ticketing agent at the UMP Hostel Cafeteria. The UMP Hostel Cafeteria is located at the shops opposite UMP. The booth for the ticket agent is located inside the UMP cafeteria, the 1st stall on the right.

Opening Hours
It is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and again from 9.00 pm to 12 midnight daily except for Saturdays.
The name of the owner/partner is Azmi and hp no: 014-3128098.

Please take note of the below if you are buying ticketing agent:

• The ticket you bought from Azmi will have the exact arrival time of the bus i.e. the half hour that the bus takes from Kuantan bus terminal to arrive at the UMP Hostel Cafeterai Bus Stop (UMP HCBS) has already been deducted.
  
  Eg, if the agent's ticket says 10.00 am, it means that the bus will leave Terminal Makmur, Kuantan at 9.30 am and arrive at UMP HCBS at 10.00 am or thereabouts (usually a little after).


• The course ends on Day 11 at about 9.00 am so please buy bus ticket with boarding time of 9:00 am (or after) so you have ample time to get to the bus stop or Terminal Makmur.


• If you are heading towards KL and the northen parts such as Ipoh, Penang, etc, you can board the bus at UMP HCBS but you need to call the bus company to inform that you want to board the bus at UMP.
